Grade 2

The mighty grade 2C,

Well where do I start with these amazing students? Over the course of the last 9 weeks, I have seen each student overcome different personal obstacles learning from home, expand their creativity with the resources they have available to them and adapt to a new home/school balance.

Our text type for the Term has been Narrative stories. As much fun as it can be, writing a story can also seem like a challenge to students (or even to an adult!). By familiarizing these students with how authors create stories and what the different parts of a story are, introducing visual or written prompts that inspire him or her to think of story ideas, and encouraging him or her to plan before starting to write, I have seen these students build up from their own learning continuum. When I accumulate all their writing pieces together they’ve written throughout the term, I am very proud too see such work produced from off-site learning. I have witnessed students able to lengthen their writing pieces, others have harvested their creativity, and all have given as much as they physically can study from home. I would also like to acknowledge the important stakeholders that have supported these students during this Term. These are the Parents, guardians, brother and sisters. These support members have ensured 2C can resume learning from home.

Please enjoy the following pieces of 2C’s writing and constructions made to replicate characters that have been written in these stories!

Grade 2

Grade 3

Term Three has definitely been a very memorable term for all 3C students. They have been working extremely hard, learning many new concepts and topics across the various areas of the curriculum. Students have shown commendable excellence in utilizing their time effectively whilst learning from home, to produce the best outcome and results possible.

I would like to congratulate every one of my students for showing responsibility, through their punctuality to our daily Zoom sessions and for doing their best to complete all their assigned MyEd, Mathletics and Reading Eggs tasks on time.

For Literacy this term, students have been exploring informative texts, understanding the structure and language features used in informational writing and distinguishing between facts and opinions. They have been developing and improving their writing skills immensely and writing informational reports about different topics. They enjoyed writing about their favourite animal, fruit, scientist and country. I hope you enjoy reading some of their writing examples as much as I did.

For Numeracy, we have explored various concepts including multiplication and division facts, multiplication written strategies, symmetry and data representation and interpretation.

In Science, students also explored different topics including Living and Non-living things, Planet Earth and the Solar System, Day and Night and the Moving Shadows. Moreover, as part of Science Week students investigated the Living and Non-living things in our oceans. They had fun designing an underwater exhibit using all their knowledge and skills in science, technology and art.

Thank you to all my 3C students, parents and teachers for an incredibly productive term thus far.

Warmest regards,

Ms Zeinab Ayoub
